On the In Depth Podcast, in an interview about candidate interviewing, Gretchen Howard said:
"I call this a knower attitude—they come in and say, 'Oh yeah, I know how to solve that problem, let me tell you how you would do this....' Versus the candidates we ended up hiring, who had much more of a learning approach. Their answer to the same questions would be, 'Oh wow, that’s an interesting and complex problem. Here are some of the questions I would ask to try and get more information to reach a better outcome.'
The first is what I call a knower, and the second a learner. And I think that is a sign of humility but also a sign of first principles thinking. Are they open to changing their perspective? Are they intellectually curious? That's what’s going to make them successful."
