In most of the search processes I'm involved with, candidates are usually in a reactive position. The employer dictates the schedules, interviews, and job outlines. However, a recent candidate defied that norm with a simple approach after the first interview.
She outlined several key points for me to share with my client. These included:
Leadership and culture alignment
Vision setting
Her preferences regarding work/life balance and compensation
Who on the current team she'd like to meet
This approach sends a strong signal to my client (and to me). At very least, it shows that she is interested, engaged, organized, and thoughtful.
Next time you're in an interview process, in addition to considering the questions you have for the employer, think about addressing some larger points in the process - on your terms.
