When I talk to creatives searching for their next job, I’m always curious about their targeting. At this point, submitting via LinkedIn is almost futile (thanks to AI). A more direct approach is needed, starting with precise targeting.
I encourage people to look beyond the big names like Google, Apple, Netflix, Nike, or Patagonia. Often, when I dig deeper, I find uncertainty. My tip: explore niche newsletters focused on specific business categories. For example, if you're interested in fashion or beauty, read the Line Sheet. For hospitality, check out The Stanza. Investment round ups? Try Rockwater Roundup. You can also go regional with something like Dot.LA.
And don’t forget ChatGPT. One of my strategies for cultivating new business is tracking private equity investments, and ChatGPT is a great tool for discovering PE firms and researching their recent deals.
