In an interview or a conversation with a headhunter, you can't do your job—you’re judged on how you talk about how you do your job. I'm regularly perplexed by how poorly some creatives articulate their work. Here are some tips:

  • Speak in short paragraphs, not short sentences.

  • The best way to describe your work is to give real examples (with metrics if possible). Detail what you actually did, including timeframes and results.

  • Discuss how collaboration made the work better (or even how it made it worse). Always share credit.
